    Dear Friends,

I would like to upgrade my Asus laptop RAM but when I removed the back cover I saw only one slot and I would like to know what is the maximum of RAM the laptop can contain?

I would like to put a 8GB stick if it is possible.

    Thanks in advance.

According to Asus and Crucial it appears there's only 1 slot available only. They're also stating that a maximum of 4GB can be taken in the slot.

Computer memory upgrades for ASUS X54H Laptop/Notebook from Crucial.com

However there have been instances where laptops can take more depending on what CPU and Chipset they have despite what is reported. On Intel's website it states the i3-2330M is capable of up to 16GB of Memory.

But I do not know if your laptop can actually take 8GB of ram in a single slot..you can always try or just stick with 4GB.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I do the test directly with the laptop on the crucial website and it state me two and I bought one and got surprise when installing it.

But I use a program named: System Info for Windows and it gave me two slots and maximum capacity is 16GB.

You may find a screenshot. You think my CPU can support up to 16GB and that I can put a 8GB RAM stick in it?

If you have opened your laptop to confirm visually and see 1 slot in the back. Then there is a possibility there is another slot somewhere (this may be located under your keyboard).

Since you have to take apart your laptop anyway to install the extra memory if a 2nd slot is available (reported by software). You may as well open it to visually confirm before spending money on another 8GB stick.

Since your CPU is Sandy Bridge then your laptop should be able to take up to16GB. Just remember to turn off Hibernate for Windows otherwise it will use alot of space on your HDD. This is usually an issue if you go 16GB+

    Hi,

I checked under the keyboard but no chance this way too there is no slots under the keyboard. I don't think all there programs would have do errors with that and mismatch.

But I will try to go to a reseller of RAM Stick and test the 8GB RAM and if it works I will buy it otherwise I will try to see with my laptop reseller for their technicians to check and the upgrades themselves.
