    Hi

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this notebook. Hows the performance, building quality and screen (had a bad experience with dell 1530 screen so this is important).

Its currently £499 at PC world

I think its possibly called an F5 outside of the UK. Will be mainly used for internet use, word processing and maybe a few games (only really RTS as I have a ps3 to play other types of games on). Will the x2300 be upto something like c&c 3 - it runs okay on an old pentium m 1.66 with a Nvidia 6800.

Would appreciate any advice or may other recommendations.

    Thanks

I don't know the X53, nor under the name F5. The build quality will probably be acceptable, the F series are budget notebooks so don't expect stellar build quality. While some F models such as the F3 have serious issues, others like the F8 are quite good -- so it's difficult to tell without knowing the particular model.

Performance outside games, for internet use and word processing will be very good. Virtually any notebook nowadays can handle desktop use very well without breaking a sweat.

I don't know about the screen and the GPU performance. For the latter, google for 3Dmark scores of x2300 and the 6800, that should give you an idea.

With the screen it's more difficult... ASUS use a lot of screens and their quality varies...
