Okay, so im using a W7S, which i just got back from repair regarding the 6 screen gpu heat. They replaced the motherboard, and instead of the 512 onboard ram, they added 1gig. So now it has 1.5 ram. Its running on XP, and now the fan seems almost always on. Now I was wondering, I just replaced the 512 added ram with a 2gig, and its working as 3 now. Will more ram allow it to heat up more? should I stay with the 1.5? or keep the 3? As to the fan almost always on, is that a bad thing? or I shouldnt worry too much?
    Any feedback would help.
    Thanks~~!

I do not think the new RAM is the cause of the fan behavior change. More RAM should not give a significant temperature increase (although it will give some).

I suspect if they did change your mainboard with the W7Sg one (the one with 1GB integrated RAM; I cannot be sure from your description) the fan policies are actually different. You shouldn't be worried if the fan stays on, as that is the norm on new computers; but check the CPU/GPU temps and see their values, you want to avoid situations where the heatsinks are improperly mounted during repair, which would quickly kill the components by overheating.

Yea, got the 1gb intergrated one, as for the heat, the GPU can go up to 85 C, Should I worry ? o.o XD

If that temperature is under load, then it's OK. As far as I can remember, the W7S GPU was idling around 85. Check my W7S power optimization guide (linked from my W7Sg review I believe which you find in my signature) for some typical temperatures.

When Asus tech support changes things like MB's, they often will run BIOS updates at the same time. Asus is famous for altering thermal policies during BIOS updates and making them more conservative, i.e. the fans come on earlier and stay on -- this was a bigger issue in 06-07 and one reason why many users would roll back these in the days of the W3, Z70, W2 etc.

There is absolutely no reason to worry, and I doubt that any shift in internal components is running hotter than the previous ones (realizing that the W7 tends to be pretty warm to begin with).... I believe you're just a victim of Asus engineers' conservative leanings during BIOS revisions.
