    Hi there,

    I saw at asus website that the RAM was expandable to 768 MB.

    Does any one knows if this is true?

    1.
    Ram on board = 256
    1 slot = 512
    Total = 768

    2.
    Ram on board = 256
    1 Slot = 768
    Total = 1000
    *never heard about 768 ram chips...

    3.
    Ram on board = 512 (change if possible??????)
    1 Slot = 512
    Tota = 1000

    I have not receive an answer from asus..

    If some one have an asus and have passed the Ram limit and the system still recognizes it... Please inform...

    Best regards..

    Nuno

    So we have a limit of 1,25 gb memory...

    But image in the future we have sticks of 1,5gb. Does it makes sense the board recognize that???

    Do you notice the difference between the original 512 and the 1,25 that you now have??
    Why did thy put on the website 768...if it's not true....

    thanks..

    How many computers do you personally actually own and use on a fairly regular basis, Justin? I'm just curious because it seems like you have one of each! Maybe I need to become an ASUS reseller!

    you can't change the onboard memory..... otherwise it wouldn't be considered on board...

    Asus has tested up to a 512mb stick - so 768mb possible..... but I've had a 1gb stick running and being recognized by the system for about a month now... so thats 1.25gb total.

    Thanks,
    Justin

    Maybe, but might need a bios update...... but at that point the ram standard will probably change too...

    What do you do with them when you don't use them anymore? I'd probably be in heaven if I could take every new model for a spin and keep it if I liked it.

    Um..... I think about 15 or so..... like I said, I probably have or have had every notebook we've brought in in the last five years.... I can't use all of them still, nor are they all on a 24/7 basis. My current line up is...

    -w1 - for home
    -m5 - for car
    -s5 - for traveling
    -then i have a crazy super computer with my big screen for my hardcore work.
    -i've got a digimatrix home theater on my one tv at home
    -i've got an s-spresso home theater on another.

    .... all Asus stuff..... except for my watercooling parts... those are german made :)

    Umm... But I can say this..... the W3 just replaced probably all of my notebooks for right now... it *might* squeeze into my new car..... it's going to be what i use for traveling and for presentations for now... A W2 *might* be used for presentations down the road (and to show it off)..... but the W3 is going to be the do all system for me, no doubt.

    Thanks,
    Justin

    there isn't a model here with 512mb on board..... it's possible for them to offer it I guess... but it's not an option we've had yet.

    the W5A is the one with the webcam right? I guess 1gb of ram would be pretty expensive as of s5, w5a and m5 all use microdimm or usodimm something.. I found a site selling 512mb for like 2x the price of the regular 512mb sodimm, crazy price
