Nice, but i would like to see T2300 not T2400 that will cut the price a little and the diffrence in performance shouldn't be so big.

£1300 is ok, i was expect £1200, but hey. Its a 256mb gpu, the hypermemory is just a waste of time, anyway, 256mb is a massive amount of gpu ram, i have 3 desktops with less than that for system ram!

Anyway, looking good. Thanks for that.

Nice find. Too bad those of us in the US won't see the 1.8 cpu at the W3j's debut. Nice to see some confirmation on the video card though, just hoping this notebook doesn't run like a portable oven.

that price, converted to usd, is cheaper than the W3j is going to retail here AND it has a better proc? is there any reason why importing it would be a bad idea?

Two reasons, 1) a UK keyboard might not be what you are accustomed to; 2) The AC Adapter will be for UK Electrical outlets.

Hehe in Poland this price coverted to USD is...2370 :D. Besides the diffrence in UK vs US keyboard is not so big, 2 or 3 keys so c'mon it's not big deal.

The UK power adaptor of my W3A is rated at 100-240V, 50-60Hz. I would expect it to work in USA so all you need is a new power lead.

Right. Most laptop adapaters can handle the power differences, as long as you get the right plug end. That's why they usually come in 2 pieces - one with the brick and the adapter that plugs into the laptop, the other part being the cord that goes to the wall.

Would there be a problem swapping in a US keyboard? I would think it would just require the US kb driver?

I cant see a reason why not. Anyway, the driver is built into xp, you just go to regional settings in the control panel and change the keyboard from uk to us - simple eh? I have done the same for my compaq but from us to uk!

ok, so $1550 for laptop, $30 for new keyboard, $10 for power lead. vs $1800 for all that. hmmmm... wow, I'm VERY tempted to import it.

Do it... it'll be a lesson to everyone. You have not considered both shipping costs and import duties.. and i'm not sure if you considered the current currency conversion or not, but.... you'll soon realize why it costs what it does in the US.

as tempted as i may be, i doubt i'll end up doing it. although i'm a cheap bastard, i'm also not an impulse buyer. by the time i end up convincing myself to spend the money, it will probably be available in the us.

I'll tell you right now - it's the "cheap bastards" that think that's the cheaper way to go and then they find out the hardway, after it's all over that it was more expensive.

... that's how it always goes though... cheap people pay more 90% of the time I'd be willing to bet... whether it's from buying something from some cheap site that turns out to send the wrong thing... or maybe nothing at all.... .. but I know people have done this in the past and although maybe unwilling to look like an idiot on the forums.... someone needs to do it and tell everyone what they're getting into :)
