They're going to get in trouble... They must have a ton of them or something. Asus sets the price and if anyone ever sells under the price you can't get the rebate......

oh, looking at the site, unless I'm on crack they are selling a model we haven't sold in 8 months....... 768mb of ram (not 1gb), and a "dvd dual" - if you look at the specs this is 4x dual format +/- rw - and not 8x dual layer..........

You can't use the $150 mail in rebate towards these...... and I'm not sure you'd want to anyway. With the configuration they claim to be selling, that unit would have also only come with a banias cpu and not a dothan..... it didn't come with a dothan until it came with 1gb of ram and the 8x dual layer drive... do the math and it evens out I'm sure..

But just to be clear.... the units aren't going down in price.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Oh. Nice to have that cleared up. For a minute there I though since W1N is going to go byebye, they are liquidating it. Not like I am even considering. Video card is crap in my opinion LoL!

I was thinking they might have had tons at first.... then I started looking and figured........ if they had the same units we did... they'd certainly want to mention the updated specs... plus Asus would be all over them for the price. Because I don't know if I mentioned this before of not.. but basically we all purchase those complete systems (W5/S5/W1/V6) at basically the price we sell it at... As long as we sell it at that price exactly, we get "refund checks" two months down the road. Not the coolest policy, but one that keeps most places from selling them.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Interesting. Sound like mortgage financing company. They are in the same boat. They usually refi people at a particular rate and only make money based on quota and commission down the road. Hmm
