Important note: Please update your BIOS first, some drivers will not work such as ATK hotkey if you are still using the old BIOS.

Here are some of the drivers we found:

ATK Drivers and Utility: (must uninstall previous version of ATK and Power4gear, WConsole, Touchpad)
    For Vista 64:
-Download and Install ATK Driver for Vista 64 and install ATK Hotkey, ATK OSD, ATK Media Utility

    For Vista 32:
-Download and Install ATK Driver for Vista 32 and install ATK Hotkey, ATK OSD, ATK Media Utility

Here's the Vista version of the Toshiba bluetooth stack, not the XP 64-bit version.

Bender, I don't recognize some of those from my W3J drivers. Specifically, what are the ATKDrv UTILITY, ATKOSD2 UTILITY, ATK_MEDIA Utility?

The ATKDrv is your usual ATK0101 driver and the ATKOSD2 is a nice update for the OSD that appear when you press the asus function keys Fn+F2. The ATK_MEDIA i think is for the media buttons that are on sides of the W3J keyboard.

Hmm, I guess I'll have to wait 'till my copy arrives to figure out exactly which of those I need. I only remember installing Hcontrol (I assume the ATKDrv) but I could be wrong. What page are you getting the Asus utilities off of? The W3J's drivers page has no Vista drivers/programs yet...

    Thanks,
    ~ Brett

Well actually I'm using a merom model W3J... but there are still no drivers or programs posted. Did you find all of the programs in other, newer models' lists of drivers & programs?

Just as soon as I get my free copy in the mail, I'll let you know how it goes. It could be a while though.

Anybody here know if the ATI driver posted on that list or the one posted on the download page for the A8JR (the A8JR download page has all Vista stuff) supports the X1700???

The only driver that I know of supporting the X1700 is the one on the Asus download page for the A8JP.

I meant in relation to Vista's power saving mode for battery. However, I meant have been premature in my judgement, it seems like the power reading is just more variable.

Nope, but it seems integrated in the battery meter for Vista. So far I just right-click the batter and select Power4Gear Extreme if i wanna open it.

We have to wait for Brett's report... I do plan to install Vista along with those drivers, but I don't want to mess with my currently working W3J... Maybe I need to swap the internal harddrive with a blank/unused one to try Vista. Just don't have the installation CD yet.

Just to inform other W3J users in case they panic when they realise they cannot click anything at the bottom half of the screen after that utility. =)

Thank you for all the drivers posted on this thread. i was able to purchase a windows vista ultimate oem and planning to intall it to my asus laptop today. One thing i noticed is that UAA drivers are not included from the download list. Are this drivers included on the windows vista dvd? or do i have to download?

Vista fully supports HD Audio out of the box, so you will not need the UAA drivers. Those are only needed for the XP generation.

I just installed home premium. Does anyone know if notebook hardware control will work on vista? I've installed p4g but I miss all the extra features. Also, it seems that my battery life is less with vista. Is this inevitable or has anyone been able to retain similar battery life as with xp. Thanks again for all the drivers!

I personally think that Vista will soon start to close the gap as applications such as power4gear become more compatible with vista. Right now, its pretty buggy. I know atm Nvidia doesn't support PowerMizer for my card (7700 Go). I get about 30~ mins more battery life in XP compared to Vista.
