I am interested in the Asus V6J, and have tried searching for it in the 1.83 Ghz model. I have only been able to find it available with the higher CPU speed in Europe, however. Anywhere this is offered in the States?

The v6 is currently only being made with the 1.66. The 1.83 or higher won't be available unless and/or until a refresh comes out - that's usually when Asus upgrades the processor (i.e. the w3j refresh coming in later this summer, being bumped up to 2.0).

Importing a unit from overseas into the US is going to cost you substantially in customs fees, taxes, etc. Same reason why the guys in Canada don't import, and why folks in the UK don't have ones shipped over from the US - the premium to get it shipped in usually outweighs the benefit. Still, if money is no object, and you really want it, then go for it

PS you really won't notice the difference between the 1.66 and 1.83 for virtually anything you throw at it, except benchmarks. This point has been debated in multiple other threads here before.

There have been lots of threads about the difference in processor speeds between these two processors. To be quick about it, it doesn't matter and isn't worth the money. Read the other to get the details. I have the V6j with the 1.66, it runs perfectly, no need for more. Good luck.
