I just purchased the V2. I'm using Vista Ultimate 64bit and having lots of issues. The nVidia 8600 card is not working properly. When I run performance information and tools I get a 1.0 for graphics and gaming score. I also am seeing at the top of the page new hardware has been added and refresh. But everytime I do this, I get the same result. Because of the low score, I can't run Windows Aero. I know to some that's not a big deal. But I dropped a good bit of money on this and I want it to work right. This notebook also runs very, very hot. I know notebooks can get warm, but this one is stoking. I'm not running any games or editing video. There is no strain on the cpu and I can hardly put my hand next to the blowing hot air. This seems to be a problem. When I called Asus about this, there was not much comment. Very frustrating. If things don't get better very soon, I'm sending it back and getting my money refunded. Not very happy so far.

I would suggest falling back to Vista 32.

I suspect much of your problems is due to bad drivers.
