Are there any major branches that sell Asus laptops, as in brick and mortar stores. BB and CC I don't think has any. Or even any nonmajor stores. It doesn't have to be some huge company.

And you know how Sony has 1 or 2 SonyStyle warehouse kinda things in everystate? Does Asus have that?

Best Buy sells the G1 (Not sure if they have the G1s yet) but does not come with mouse or backpack.

In the U.S, Best Buy seems to be the only retail store carrying some of their models.

Asus at this time is still a boutique marquee. BestBuy got licensing to be an Asus retailer in January07 and they tested the brand with the G1 countrywide.
In the near future you may see more variety of Asus notebooks at BestBuy but no one really knows how and when unless you know any of the BB wholesale buyers.
And no, Asus does not have such a stand alone retail outlet like Sony.

Asus also sells notebooks through Target now, although only online at the moment.

Where are you located? If you're in the SF Bay Area, Central Computers has them. Otherwise, I don't know.

To find the closest Best Buy store with the G1 available, just follow this link and type in your zip code. It seems more and more stores are carrying it which is probably a good sign... if you feel that an expansion of the Asus brand is a good thing.

Yeah, I checked that out last week. Actually very few best buys carry Asus right now. I found zero in NC. (We have like 6 best buys in Raleigh alone) Then only a couple in northern Va, and only a few in Cali. I would really love to see one in person first. But I have pretty much made up my mind. I will probably get it from Gentech....since I can customize it.

That's bizarre - Two stores locally (within 20 mins of me) have the G1 in-stock. While there's absolutely nothing wrong with purchasing online, you should be warned that doing major upgrades using online vendors could result in the loss of your Asus warranty. Asus is often flexible, but you should know the risks ahead of time.

    ~ Brett

edit: I just checked the link I posted and it's only half accurate. If you only specify the state, the list is incomplete. Many stores which carry the product aren't listed. Perhaps you should try some other local cities.

The only things I plan on upgrading are the hard drive, warranty, and operating system to Ultimate. According the the gentechpc website, that will not void the Asus warranty. Of course, I will call Asus first to double check.

But yeah, very few Best Buys around the U.S. have the G1 in store....according to the link you provided.

Those upgrades will not void the warranty. If they ever gave you a hard time about the HD, you might want to keep the original on hand to replace it if you ever had to send it in.

It really all depends on where you are in the country - i.e. if you try zip code 11101, you'll find a bunch of stores that have it all very close together.

Are there any ASUS stores in UK?
