I'm a Mac user but I'm curious to know if any of you guys are considering the S6F. It looks like a really well specified ultralight. The Register reported yesterday it will be shipping from next week.

S6F is not noticebly lighter the the 12" models like Z33 and S5, because it is thicker than these two 12" models.

Sure, like the Fujitsu P7120, but it's really compact and seems to pack in more than most 12" ultralights. For example, my 12" PowerBook has no memory card slots and only 2 USB ports.

Im actually surprised that this model hasnt got that much interest from the forum, my guess is that most people here are after something a bit bigger and with plenty of gpu power, thus the smaller ultra-lights dont get that much attention.
It does look like a cool idea/notebook, and I hope this is just the start of ASUS doing some out of the box things to notebooks.

I just read about it. What a beauty. A LV processor, not a ULV, 100gb hd, and a gig of ram all in a small 11 inch form factor. Just beautiful.

That reviewer seems not to have done a very thourough job. He says there's no FireWire but there's a mini FireWire Port at the back of the machine.

    Some more coverage...

    http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/04/27/asus_s6f_leather_laptop/

    (IE/Interesting Excerpt):

The S6F's wrist-rest and lid are both covered in genuine cowhide, tanned and coloured in either Camel or Dark Chocolate - light or dark brown, for the rest of us - and then hand-pressed onto the luxury laptop. Asus said its engineers have ensure the leather will age gracefully.

It is CNET after all; they do tend to lend a blind eye to crucial features and pick on the shortcomings of something even if the immediate competitor has worse.

It is laptops like this which make me wanna re-think my choice of getting a gaming notebook to get an ultraportable.

This is currently right now my dream notebook. Its so much better than the similar Vaio TX with its dual core processor and 2.5" hard drives. :D :D :D
I really want this notebook so badly, too bad I've have to sell a kidney to get it.

Anyone know what battery life it has? Those idiots at CNET Asia gave it a 9 out of 10 but never gave a battery life test.

Anyone know its release date and if it'll be available in the states? Pretty sure it won't be in any stores, probably have to order online if your in the states. Price should be around $2400 am I right? Why get a Vaio TX over this? Just hate the fact that they are killing cows for this notebook, DISGUSTING!
