    Hi there,

Am looking for a little bit of help with my Asus N55SL and a couple of issues I am having.

    1. The USB 3.0 does not work at all. I have tried reinstalling and removing the ASmedia driver pack but ths doesn't seem to do anything. If I plug something in to the port I get power for a second and then it cuts out, this is the same for both ports.

    2. The unit will boot loop, before posting, four times before a successful startup on the fifth go. If plugged in to the mains these four loops will happen automatically before success on the fifth. If on battery you have to press the power button after each loop until on the fifth press it will start normally. Once on the unit is stable and works fine, albeit with only USB 2.0 function using the ports on the other side.

I did find an article on here from back in April where someone else was having sort of the same issues with an N55SF but the thread never developed as the issue was solved, but no details on how.

Some posts I have seen sem to indicate this being an issue of the ASmedia firmware on the USB host, worthwhile mentioning I do not even see anything labelled USB 3.0 or ASmedia in device manager. Function is enabled in the bios.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,

My N55SL (though the motherboard I have inserted says it's an N55SF...) would incessantly power off before POST when I updated the firmware on the ASM1042 chip. I eventually found the solution on a Flemish forum: set the SSID and SVID to an ASUS one before flashing a newer firmware.

I've attached a ZIP file with the 12220E firmware (in my experience, it's the most reliable - although there's one report [but it may be for a newer firmware] saying that the USB charging output rate decreases heavily) with the SSID and SVID fixes already applied. Use Rufus to create a bootable MS-DOS USB stick, extract the files from the ZIP onto the USB, boot from it using the USB 2.0 ports from the command prompt run
    Code:
    u
. Shutdown the PC fully when done.

    you saved my laptop.

I had this problem for about 1 year already. This problem is really irritating and

I'm worrying whether my HDD will broken or not due to boot loop 4-5 times

every time I boot up my laptop.

I purposely create an account just to say thank you, deep from my heart.

    Million thanks !!!!

previously I created 1 topic and another 1 request for the original file on another forum,

sadly no one can help me out..... I tried out more then 20+ firmware version,

turn out not even 1 of them is working.

Again, thank you very much!!! Love you!!!

P/S: pardon for my broken English :p
