Get the 1600MHz 2x4GB sticks, it must be PnP model or supporting XMP (kingston), or the 1600MHz corsair vengeance.

I vote for kingston though, since it has a heatsink for the RAM chips.

You can go with a 2.5" SATA 2 or 3 HDD or SSD.

Since I don't have a N55, you might want to look elsewhere on where to remove the RAM and HDD bay

    Hope this helps!

Just a thought, why not buy from newegg?

Where will you be buying this btw?

I've narrowed some results for you

    Corsair Vengeance 8G 1866: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233243
    Kingston HyperX 8G 1866: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104259

    Kingston HyperX 8G 1600: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104257
    Corsair Vengeance 8G 1600: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233242

    16GB's

    Kingston HyperX 16G 1600: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104317&Tpk=so dimm
    Note: i7's only

Keep in mind that these DIMMs operate in DUAL channel, so you will receive two sticks.

You might want to sell the unused generic ASUS DIMM(s) in the NBR marketplace for some extra cash

not sure if you're really going to notice 6 to 8GB, ^ and for 16gb make sure your laptop is able to use it... most only go up to 8,

harddrive, what exactly are you looking for, how much space? or do you want performance aka a SSD, with a 2nd hdd??

Hi, I'm also looking for a memory upgrade. If I understand correctly, 2630QM supports up to 16GB of ram. And the specification for the laptop states:
Does this 8GB refer to each slot separately or they mean the laptop supports a total of 8GB?

    I'm thinking of getting KINGSTON SO-DIMM 8GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9 - KVR1333D3S9/8G.
