    hey

i just recieved my m6n today, and i'm having a few issues with it. overall, it is a great laptop, however, i'm having troubles with the quick launch buttons on the top of the laptop, and the touchpad.

The quicklaunch buttons are at the top of the laptop. There are 5 of them, and in the instruction manual, it says that they are supposed to be e-mail, internet, wireless lan toggle, touch pad toggle, and a power saving button. It doesn't say anything about configuring them, and i can't figure out any way to make them work. If anyone has any experience with this, please help me out.

Secondly, is the touchpad. I'm not really used to it, however, the thing will randomly left click. even if my finger isn't on the button, it will just click it, and it is extremely annoying. The laptop did come with a CD which included drivers for the touchpad, and i installed them, and they seem to be functioning normally, but i still have this issue.

*edit* also, as of right now, if i close the screen, it logs out of windows. i would like it to simply go to standby, and not log out of certain programs, aim for example. i'd like to stay online while the laptop is closed, but i can't figure out how to do so.

    please help.

To change the log out issue, right click on the desktop>properties>screensaver tab>power settings> there should be an option there (from memory) that allows you to choose what your lapie does when you shut the lid, I have mine set to just switch the screen off for eg.
As for the touch pad try seeing if there is newer drivers on the ASUS website, this may help. Otherwise use the free optical mouse that you should have got with the notebook much easier than the track pad.
I'm not sure if you can config the quick start buttons will have a look on mine tonite and get back to ya

My M3N has similar touchpad problem, I think Asus probably not able to include a better touchpad without addition cost. Potential buyer of Asus notebook should be aware of that. The newer driver on Asus website may able to help you fine tune the touchpad, but the driver hog a largh chunk of memory and slow down the bootup time considerably, I end up having a mini usb mouse connected to my M3N all the time.

I have a Portable One MX which is built on an M3np. Same problems with the quick launch keys. Wonder if anyone came up with a solution.

For the touchy touchpad, I just disable it in bios settings at startup and use an external mouse.

    Thanks

For the quick launch keys, you must have the "ATK0100" drivers/software installed.

As for your touchpad... maybe the sensitivity is just too high.
The touchpad on my M6Ne appears to be fine...
