This is the thread to post any information regarding this soon to be released notebook from Asus.

Does anyone have any information on pricing and availability?

Will it have GDDR2 or GDDR3 GPU memory?

Is this a pre-built or BTO system?

Any other information will be greatly appreciated.

Here's a link for it on the Asus global website.

There was a recent post somewhere about similar classes of NVIDIA GPUs in the 8XXX and 9XXX series...

the 9500m GS has exactly the same specs as the 8600GT so you can expect the same performance with improved battery life. Don't know if its running GDDR2 or GDDR3. Anyone have any ideas?

US seems to always be cheaper, and UK seems to be more expensive and also slower... I'm just waiting to see the sort of price they will come out at in UK

US is always cheaper because of tax differences. Nothing to do about that :)

"here" as in Finland. I am ordering as soon as I can finalise my decision. still hunting around though for other options if needed.

AUS has it already and I know it would be cheaper for example from the US but I need my Finnish keyboard :D

Nvidia has put their information on the 9500 GS on their site. check it out here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_9500M.html
The picture displayed is also the M51Sn which the card will be featured in.
The Specs are the same as the 8600 GT, so maybe we can expect power savings?

    Yeah maybe.

I'm going to check one out on the weekend.

I've heard the build quality isn't great, but it's performance is pretty sweet.

I don't like how there is no 9cell battery though.

I've read a swedish review of the M51S(R) and it suffers from a real ****ty display. From what is written about it, I'd say it is similar to what the Samsungs in the XPS 1530 suffer from.

So watch out for the display, if you are planning on buying it.

    Hey guys.

I went and checked out a 3G today at JB Hifi in Woden.

Damn. It's build quality is solid imo! Great looking screen too. My main gripe is with the lid, FINGER PRINT MAGNET!

Edit: The laptop seemed to run cool. Couldn't check fans as the store was loud :p

    Thanks for good news :)

Which resolution display was? Btw, there is M51Se model available as well with Radeon 3470, any ideas about it (I am not playing so much, so that could be reasonable for me if it is having reasonable performance)?

I have to disagree with you on this one J4ck. I too live in canberra and checked it out at JB hifi Woden and i fell like the laptop is not very solid. The body is glossy plastic and feels like it could crack if you push down too hard especially around the key board area where your palms rest.
The F9S series is better quality built than the M51sn and i am expecting the F8SN to have the same quality build as the M51sn. Performance wise, the m51sn is quite similar to the G1S (but without the weight and solid build). About 3900 on 3dmark06 with modded driver (i think).
The T9300 doesn't seem to really affect the performance much over the T7500 or T7700 (not 100% sure but prove me wrong).
Battery life is still about 2.5 hours so penryn and new nvidia graphics didn't really improve battery life.
After seeing this laptop, i have now been convinced to maybe buy a dell xps m1530 with T7500 (MUCH Better performance than asus for $2000)\

    Hope this helps

Be aware that the Dell XPS 1530 has some serious problems, not the least of which are a grainy screen, and even more serious is that users are actually being shocked by them. I'd stay away from the Dell XPS 1530. These problems began coming to light right after I placed my order for one, which I then immediately canceled.

Apparently they discontinued the Samsung screens that caused grainy screens and have replaced them with LG screens and Chi Mei. If you order one with a resolution with 1440x900 you will most likely get a good screen.
What other problems do you think there are?

I don't want to off topic this thread any further, so I'll make this my last post about this and suggest that you read around on the forum for more info. Besides the grainy screens I've read about poor build quality, static on the audio jacks, and like I said before, people are literally being shocked by them.

This is unconfirmed, but according to a poster on another forum, the M51Sn is using GDDR2, which really doesn't surprise me if true, considering that this unit is not a part of their gaming line up.

That would mean the G1Sn will be getting GDDR3, which seems to be wright. If it's a 1280x800 screen it's not a big deal though.

Well, it's not one of their high end notebooks, more of a midrange offering, and it's made from plastic. If they built it with magnesium or something the cost would have likely been much higher. I think the body is similar to the F3Sa-A1 I had, which wasn't bad, so I'm not worried about the structural integrity of it.

Yeah, in this case it appears to be nothing more than a die shrink though. The 9500 seems to be an 8600GT basically, so no real performance increase is expected.

Hmmm, that's too bad. Then again, I suppose the 9500 isn't ranked very high up on the entire 9 series...
