I been looking at these two models. Only difference is the blu-ray drive in the B1, but it has the T8100 vs the A1 which doesn't have the blu-ray but has a T9300. Gentech has the A1 cheaper. Is it worth it to pay an extra 100 for the B1's blu ray or should i just get the A1?

I don't plan on doing any really extensive work that requires alot of cpu power, maybe alittle encoding of videos when i need to. Is the T9500 noticeably better in performance compared to the T8100 in real life usage?

The T8100 is more than capable for office apps, internet surfing, light-moderate gaming and other basic usage. But like you mentioned, video encoding and even image editing (eg photoshopping) will require lots of CPU power. If you don't use any heavy CPU software on a daily basis, I'd say stick with the B1 version if you want a blu-ray notebook.

If you don't plan to watch blu ray or hook it up to a HDTV via HDMI, M50Sv-A1 would make more sense for your case. Don't forget to take advantage of the Father's Day Promotion here. Thanks!
