I hope someone can tell me anything about this computer. I want to buy this computer from QVC because of their easy payments but have never heard of ASUS and I don't have a clue about what all the RAM and other stuff mean. I want a reliable computer that wont give me problems and if it does, I want good customer service (english please) that I can understand and is helpful. I don't have money to replace this computer until I get out of college. All I will be using this computer for is; school work, surfing the web, streaming videos and email. I looked up this computer on google and cant find reviews on it, only Asus K53E-B1 or B2??? Are these the same computer with different insides? they look the same.

    thanks for your help,

    Hi and welcome to NBR,

That computer looks awfully expensive for what it has to offer. At $1000+ you are usually looking at a gaming machine, an ultrathin laptop or a basic macbook.

When you say school work do you just meaning writing essays and the such? If so then I think you could get by with something a lot cheaper, I am currently looking to get a new laptop and I'm really liking this one from Best Buy. It is more than half the price but should have about the same power as the K53E-XQ2. You just have to front the payment or get a loan.

I have no idea about the customer service of ASUS as I have never had a laptop die on me and I do all the upgrades myself.

There are a host of cheap laptops that should fill your needs and hopefully some others here will have some tips and suggestions. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for your reply. After reading the many pages of reviews about the one you suggested, I have decided to get that. Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction!

There's a thread on the K53TA here now, and I just got one and can testify that it is in fact a screamingly fast machine for something under $450. Heck,. there's not much to beat it for under $1000
