    Hey,

I have brought a G60 and have a few questions, hoping somebody would help me out.

Is 90c about right for the GPU whilst gaming?

Is there a tutorial to improve airflow?

Which coolers work well with the G60, looking for a budget one.

    Thanks in advance.

scan through the G51 optimization guide thread here, along with the "Grab copper" thread, both are great sources of info for the G51's.

90C is normal for these machines, it can be improved upon, but really depends on how much effort you want to put into it. It's not necessarily a problem, Asus says its fine... a lot of us here like to mod though, and it gives us something to do! The best mod in my opinion is changing the thermal paste to MX-3, that made the single biggest difference on my machine, even more so than a cooler or holes in the bottom of the backpanel. Add all three though, and it really lowers temperature. It will void your warranty though so must decide carefully if it is worth it to you.

I'm using the Zalman NC-2000, and it works great, but it isn't a budget cooler. Runs about $50 or so depending where you get it.

They are great machines, have fun!

    Thanks,

Does adding new thermal paste void my warranty?

Is there anyway to make it over heat in say 10 months so I can get a replacement? LOL, long shot, but I only have a years warranty and would like this notebook to last 2 years really.

Also, whenever I use a " it does not show on the screen until I press another key? Example: If I wanted to type "Hello", the first " would not show until I typed the H and the last " would not show until I pressed the space bar.

One more thing, I did a fresh install of Windows and when it asked for the driver disk I put it in and pressed any key, but it would not recognize the disk, so I restarted and installed all the latest drivers manually. But now my 3 hot key's do not work, I am pretty sure I installed everything, any ideas?

If you just installed the first disc, you should go to Asus and download the utilities. Anything involving "ATK" in the name is related to hotkeys and on-screen alerts, so you need all of those.

I use a Bytech NC-500 cooler, but I am not a heavy gamer. I like the fact that it is aluminum (so it won't warp like plastic from constant use) and that it uses 2 80mm fans with standard connectors, so it is easy to replace them if needed. I'm looking at some quite high-flow fans to upgrade it.

Fixed all my other issues, although the wireless button drive me crazy for a good 10 minutes.
I still don't know how to fix the " problem.

When I press " it does not show on screen until I type the next character, but if i press backspace then it deletes the previous character. It's kinda irritating.

    Any ideas?

Also only my disable keypad button works, i dont even know what the other two do (The ones by the on switch)
