I currently bought the laptop cause it looks awesome. What can I do to get the best performance out of it? Any tips/tricks? tweaks? etc..? I heard that you have the change the speaker settings in BIOS. I put sound level to 8 [Highest] I don't think I notice a difference. Is there anyway to change the LCD displays for computer temperatures? etc..?

A quick question: I have a D-Link Dir-615 wireless n router, how do i connect to the device using N?

Thanks, I hope this laptops worth it. =]

If by computer displays you mean the secondary screen, then not so far as I know. Some 3rd party app may support it however Asus' Direct console does not.

The BIOS sound adjustment to the best of knowledge will only raise the volume of the POST sound and the sounds of Windows.

If you wish to know the temperatures of your laptop, download HWMonitor.

Hey, I'm loving this laptop, but I have a huge problem. I was playing TF2 fine but around an hr later my FPS started to decrease, and there was horrible spikes. Was it because the video card got too hot and the laptop under clocked? I'm pretty sure it can handle TF2 well since most reviews I read people were saying it handles TF2 very well.

Try monitor your GPU temp with RivaTuner to check if yout GPU is overheating.

No, it's plugged in. It says 97% plugged in, not charging. and I'm using HWMonitor and the max temperature my GPU is 76 C and 49 C Minimum. I just played a while ago, and the same thing happened. I lowered my settings for TF2 and the same thing happened. What's wrong with my laptop? Everyone else has been saying that they have no problem with TF2 on max settings.

It would seem to be something else than the GPU temp, looking at the 76 degrees. Perhaps you have the CPU stuck at high usage problem of the G50?

What you should do is check the G50 owner's lounge, first post on the thread. I have added some useful G50 links there, including common problems and solutions.

As to the OLED (what you call LCD display), have a look at the G1S OLED customization thread (linked from the Info Booth). There is no support AFAIK for the G50, but maybe you can work with PredatorMF to develop the support ;)

Make sure the card is not downclocking for some reason. Use RivaTuner to monitor the clocks.

If it does downclock during gaming, you can either:
    a) try different GPU drivers
    b) disable PowerMizer.

Use GPU-Z. It will list the nominal clock speeds on the info page, and then on the Monitoring page it will give the current clock speeds.

Even in Riva tuner, you should see some steps up and down of the clocks -- and they should stay all the way up most of the time while the game is running. If they drop too much while the game is running, that's not good.

the best tweak you can make is take advantage of the included raid controller. Make that striped array go on and you will notice a marketable improvement in startup and other actions requiring read/write.

Oh. I remember someone posting with a solution to a similar problem. That problem involved Vista searching at intervals for the best router, and lagging the system -- or something like that.

The thread should not be very old and its title is very descriptive. You should find it easily in the last 10-15 pages of forum.
