Hi, I've just noticed on my G50VT the gaming score is only 5.8 whereas all the other screenshots I've seen of other people with a G50VT has the score as 5.9.

Is there something I need to change? Thanks.

No its the same on the X5 even with the GTS Overclock and a clean install of DOX 182.05. Its WEI ignore it to an extent lol. Same thing on 7 RC except the cpu overclock and a rerun bumped it to 5.9.

Ok thanks, also I'm wondering what those DOX drivers I've been seeing are.. I got the latest drivers from the nVidia site itself so is that better/same/worse?

Some people have claimed the new Nvidia 185 drives are better than the DOX 182.05. I havent had these results but havent tested the latest either.

From stock 179.14 to DOX 182.05 my Doom 3 score went from 58 fps on 1280x1024 ULTRA with 2xAA to 88 FPS even with AA increased to 16x. My medium score in Crysis was slightly hurt but my high fps were up by 4.

I tested the newer dox drivers which run balanced now and you cant choose performance mode and I had barley better then nvidia results. DOX is a person on laptop2go who modifies desktop drivers to get the best performance out of laptop gpu's.

In device manager it says driver version 7.15.11.7948 so does this mean I don't have the newest?

Download GPU-Z a good way to tell the forceware version which is what most people go off of. Not sure where else its listed but most people go off the forceware version number I just dl'd the latest 185.85 from nvidia gonna give a test in a little bit.

Hmm apparently I have ForceWare 179.48 haha. Need to update, I should uninstall the drivers before installing newer one right?

Im on stock drivers at the moment with the GTS bios flashed, but i was installing Crysis Warhead, just picked it up, so i figured this would be a good time to take a new look at drivers.

You should use driver sweeper in windows safe mode, remove nvidia gpu drivers then reboot and install the new ones for best results.

One more thing, is it bad to use turbo extreme mode regularly or to keep it on turbo extreme mode? Will this damage the laptop in any way?

HIGHLY debatable I could give you a full yes and a likley no. Board should be okay, processor depends on the individual unit, ram is the most likley thing to fail.

    185.85 = Fail

1280x1024 over HDMI with GTS Clocks and CPU to 2.45Ghz
    DOX 182.05 = 9112
    Nvidia 185.85 = 8672

As usual newer isnt better in the GPU world.

Ah haha, darn just installed the 185 too. Where could I find the DOX drivers? Also, do the DOX drivers work with/include physx?

EDIT: Found the drivers :p sorry should have googled before I asked.

Hmm, I just tried both on the 3DMark06 site in your sig and they both gave me the exact score of 8900.. is this normal? I thought the X6 would perform better than the X5 by a little bit?

Did you install driver sweeper and run it in safe mode and reboot before installing each driver? Not doing so will cause no performance gains. I installed DOX Drivers in performance mode.

Your processor will give you a slight edge over my overclocked unit, but other then that the systems are the same hardware wise you have a nicer screen which is useless for next gen gaming with that video card. Screens nice for editing photo's watching movied and surfing the web.

EDIT - Also note your graphics card is running at stock speed and myne is not.

Wow okay I did what you told me and I got, 12800 VirtualMarks. That's a HUGE boost haha. One problem though, my GPU is idling at a high temp.. around 50-55 celsius, is this ok? Also are there any problems I would have with these drivers?

If you want a real score download and install 3dmark06 and run it, my score isnt the virtual score.

Temps are dependant on room temperature, dont forget vista uses the gpu to render stuff and i notice myne around 50 but they drop to mid 40's. 70F room the card is currently at 51C.

The dox drivers run a little hotter but a 50C idle is nothing to worry about. As far as my max goes i average 79C but ive hit 83C on both stock and dox, and stock clock and overclocked.
