Uhm... Broken link (only works if you selected what you wanted to download) and also, what version of the BIOS is this? I think 213 was the most recent one.

Yes, linking directly to ASUS website doesn't work as they use a lot of scripting and flash. Navigate to your notebook model on the website, and then expand the "BIOS" tab. See what is the most recent version.

The latest version is 213, as I know :D. I updated my BIOS to that version no sooner than I received my lappy from my cousin.

I don't suppose that it solves the keyboard lag or S,D,Space combo problem?

I have no problem with keyboard or combo key. The Fn key work perfectly.

From what I understand the lag is a G50V version problem not the G50Vt's that said i cant be sure. I experience no lag or dropped characters. If you see a mistake it's my own typing lol.

The lag also extends to the M50's, if I recall correctly. Not that I have this problem, but I know it was a common issue. I am still using the stock Intel MSM driver, but planned to upgrade to the latest anyhow.

Yeah, too bad about the S+D+Space. I don't use this combo, but it has got to be pretty annoying for some.

Since this lag is related to the M50 and G50 series my bet it has something to do with the keyboard since both use the same one. Other series use a different keyboard but are not affected by this lag.

No and No. This bios ONLY changes support for the sata optical driver under DOS.

does this fix the problem with the Direct Console runtime error? I just got mine a couple days ago, and I consistently am unable to open Direct Console and get a Runtime error when doing so.

What exact model do you have? Never had this issue on myne. I would check the asus website for an update to direct console.

This is for everyones future reference - THE 213 BIOS UPDATE COMING FROM 210 ONLY FIXES SATA OPTICAL DRIVES SHOWING UP UNDER DOS, SOMETHING 99% OF YOU WILL NEVER NEED.

Bios 213 breaks S3 suspend for me. Had to go back to 210 to fix it.

I have the G50VT-X6. I have the same issues posted here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=303820
    http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx...&board_id=3&model=G50V&page=1&SLanguage=en-us

I reloaded the Direct Console 2.0 software and the ATK Hotkeys, but it didn't fix the problem. Clutch thanks for the concern bud (and for all your amazing G50 guides), but no worries on fixing it just yet. I'm gonna get on the phone with ASUS tech support tonight, and I have a feeling that there's a quick fix for this as it seems to be a fairly common problem.

I ran into another problem with the 213 BIOS. Recently I added an Intel X25-M SSD to my laptop (and it's awesome). I moved the existing 200 Gb platter drive to bay 2. After updating to 213, my G50 would not recognize the SSD during POST on a cold boot. After it gave the "no boot volume" error message, I could CTRL-ALT-DEL and on the soft boot it would see both drives and continue normally.

Reverting to the 210 BIOS fixed this problem for me. I just thought I'd throw it out in case anyone else runs into it.

You ran into a known bug in all bios versions. Even 210. Saving the default settings 2 times (one boot, bios, save, reboot bios, save, boot) fixes the issue, I had it in 210 fixed it and it returned when installing 213 as a bios update resets everything.

213 was a useless update unless your using your cdrom in MS DOS.

Updating just made things worse. Broke standby and borked my RAID0.

What does it mean by "being able to detect ODD from DOS"?

I replaced the ODD with a 3rd HDD, and under RAID mode, it would not boot.
I'm thinking this BIOS would fix that issue.

The BIOS update will reset the Hard drive configuration to the defaults. All you have to do afterwards is go into the BIOS again and tell it to use RAID0, save, reboot and you should be up and running. Worked for me.

It means exactly that. If you are trying DOS or something similar, the 213 BIOS will allow the DOS and apps to see the ODD.

Will it solve your problem with RAID? I don't know. My only suggestion is that you backup your data, put the 3rd HDD drive in, and completely redo the the RAID.

If that fails, you can try the new BIOS, if you haven't already. But again, redo the RAID.

According to another person, you can't put all three in RAID, but it should allow you to put two in RAID with the 3rd as stand alone. But mostly, it should be bootable.

LOL, nevermind, it was you who said that.

In any case, my third drive is a different make, I won't be trying all this jazz just yet.

Well, the 213 BIOS is needed if you plan on accessing the ODD from Acronis... as I just found out last night.
