    Asus G2s Direct Flash Question

    When i got my g2s, the direct flash only lights whenever i play game. Then i disabled it.


    But now when i enable it back, The flash is always on, even though im not playing game. Anyone knows why?

    Yeah the reason the direct flash is always on is because of Aero. It uses DX9 which activates the feature.

    Personally I just keep it off all the time. If they released a new version of Direct console that didn't activate with Aero on I might consider using it though.

    Aero is what controls all those special effects when you minimize windows.. When you have that 3d program switch, etc etc. It's part of Vista.

    It uses DX9 for those effects, and that activates Direct Flash.

    i see i see... i bet directflash in some way drains the battery in someway?

    Yep it does. And so does Aero. I suggest you turn it off when using the battery. Unfortunately, Power4Gear doesn't do that for you.

    Just right click on the desktop and select "Personalize", then select Window Color and Appearance, then "Open classic appearance properties" and select "Windows Vista Basic"

    That will disable Aero yet maintain a similar look. There won't be any special effects or transparent menu/tool bars.
