I attempted to hook up my Samsung 226MS to my Asus G2S-B2 through the VGA port. However, the only resolution I could get the Samsung to display was 1024x1080 despite the native resolution being 1680.

I had it set up as a dual display with the laptop monitor as primary. Native resolution on the laptop was maintained.

I even tried to install the video driver for the Samsung on the laptop. Monitor was recognized and everything seemed to work as intended except for the resolution.

Any suggestions? Or is there a limit on the secondary display.

I think you need to put the Samsung as your primary monitor for it to run at 1680, not sure though.
