Any chance of the ASUS G2S being under or around $1800-1900 this summer or is it going to stay at $2100 like at Milestonepc
-
Considering what the G2S is, I don't expect the price to fall on it that fast.
-
It will drop from its initial projected pricing dont worry
Just wait til it lands in majority or stores. Never ever preorder unless you like paying too much for things -
It will drop, but probably more toward Q4 07, not during the summer, as it comes out late June.
-
Wow you guys are great...very quick responses.
Sorry to be posting dumb questions but by August or so what kind of price would you expect?
The reason being is Ive been looking for a lappy for a while now and when I saw the ASUS G2P I completely fell in love with it. When I found out this was coming out I was like screw it...I'm waiting. -
Probably could get it from a good reseller at about $1950 in August. Depends on how many of these hit the market, and how popular they are.
Yeah, waiting sucks. I have been waiting since last May for something, but have no choice since my wallet is empty. You can't regret waiting though, it makes it that much more enjoyable once you do get it. -
i would keep an eye out at US BestBuy stores
Feb 07 BestBuy became a licensed Asus notebook dealer and thou they tested the waters with the G1 i wouldnt doubt the G1s/G2s and other Asus notebooks get rolled out in BestBuys everywhere. This alone will drive down the market pricing when June comes.
This alone is why i think the retailer competition will cave -
OMG I can't wait to get that machine. Its so sexy...I cant find anything bad about it
-
lol, well the only thing i would say thats bad about it would be.... Vista
-
Bro, I'm going to try Vista for a week. Chances are I'm going to install XP
-
me too i'm waiting for too long now and I really want that machine this summer
I'll try vista but my xp version won't be far ... -
not to dump at the hapynnes you guys have but, I have one quetions and it the same as all the other notebooks, how hot will the surface get? cause it's not very nice to work or play when your arms ar hot
-
don`t get me wrong I'm also wating for the g2s, it "looks" very nice
-
Since the G2s will be a newborn in a world of preloaded Vista Laptops, will we be able to revert to XP Por and get drivers for all features... I know they can be found for laptops that came out prior to the Vista launch, but will Asus support XP on these new Beasts.
I hope so, cause Vista is a PITA! -
Speedfan HD0 temp on my G2 hovers at 46-49 and never goes above 51 when gaming -
Hmphhhh, waiting sucks...as does Vista but thats another story.
From and G2P owners, do you have any complaints? -
the only thing i would have liked is to have majority of the usb's on the side of the laptop instead of in the back
-
P.S.- Is it very cold where you live? My G1 usually gets on the higher 70's or even lower 80's Centigrade while playing!!! The ambient temperature where I usually play is around 32 Centigrade. -

I think the prices will drop much more dramatically, with 64-bit GPUs (finally) being released this fall, along with the 64-bit drivers from many of Asus' favorite companies. The smart money is on a new G1/2 series by/around november. Also the release of the high-end 8 series for mobile PCs (also finally), we can be fairly sure that Asus is going to want to fly the S off to capitalise on the christmas and new year's market. Of course, as with any prediction that has ever been made in the computer industry that could be hopelessly wrong. =P Wishful thinking maybe?

Anyone know how the speakers our on the G2?
-
has anyone actually been able to install XP on a G2S?
-
ASGTrace, I had four very good reason to be worry about:
photos here:
a big, ugly and green dead line -
So far, that has been 1 case. At the most, this just seems like a defective screen and Asus should replace it free of charge if still under warranty. From what I have heard, the G2S has one of if not the best screen for 17'' notebooks anywhere.
