after having a mosy round looking for 8800MGT MXM type2 laptop graphics boards, i read somewhere that someone had found that their G1S had its 8600GT GPU soldered to the mainoard.

not good. had kinda bought my G1 on the premiss that the 7700 was only available on an MXM card... so took the plunge and took a scew driver to my beloved G1...

the graphics memory and GPU is soldered to the mainboard.

    memory is upgradable,
    cpu is upgradeable,
wifi is on an mini PCIexpress card, so thats upgradeable to 802.11n.
had disk is SATA so thats upgradable.

so. i'm stuck with 7700 graphics. the G1 CPU has to have a 667Mhz FSB, to i can put in a 2.33Ghz T7600
The G1S can run current mobile CPU's with upto an 800Mhz FSB.

though i am having problems finding other laptops that have a 15.4in 1680x1050! :)

i got pictures too. ... how do you put pictures in this thing?

    Interesting!

Correct me if I'm wrong but even if the video card on the G1 where MXM type, you would still need to have Santa Rosa mobo as DX10 cards need the bandwidth to operate.

    Just a thought tho...

    Cheers!
