    Hi Guys,
Been doing my bi weekly Google search for the Asus V1J/F3J to see if its out anywhere (i.e. North America/Europe/Asia) and I came across something very interesting...the Asus F3J has been officially launched on 24th June 06in...India! Here's the link:
    http://www.techshout.com/laptops/20...lability-of-the-f3j-gaming-notebook-in-india/

I was looking at the specs though and it's completely different than the one I know of that was announced in cebit and the pictures a user posted from Germany. Here's a quote from the site in India:

"The heart of the machine consists of an Intel Duo Core processor T2300 processor that allows multitasking like never before. The graphics is ably handled by the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 chipset. The amount of memory present is 512 mb of DDR2 667 variety. It also features a 15.4” widescreen display. It can also double up as a a powerful digital multimedia solution, with S/PDIF, card reader, Audio DJ (allows you to play music without re-booting your Operating System) and Bluetooth V2.0 EDR

The Color Shine glare type and Crystal Shine high-brightness LCD widescreen offers vibrant video and compact mobility perfect for both work and play. ASUS Splendid Video Intelligence Technology integrates and synchronises different multimedia data sources to reduce noise and conversion rate for vivid image displays with improved image contrast, brightness, skin tone and color saturation with true brilliance.

To accommodate and complete the modern fast-paced professional lifestyle, the F3 offers a wide variety of fast and easy wireless connection solutions. Built-in WLAN 802.11 a/b/g guarantees wireless Internet access wherever reception is available. Bluetooth 2.0 enhanced data rate (EDR) also offers data transfers at a rate that is three times faster than the standard Bluetooth for increased connectivity and synchronisation between digital devices."

I noticed the Geforce 7300 and went  so I guess this is a market specific version of it. I guess we have to wait for the one that was shown at the shows. :(

and about what price (USD)? some people were saying it was the same thing as the z96j but comparing pictures I have noticed many differences. to name a few, the f3j as a dvi port, has less usb ports (at least on the rightside) making the front much thinner and is a darker shade of gray. personally I think it looks a lot better

the f3j is also supposed to have a spill proof keyboard, hard drive protection, and a fingerprint reader

If it even comes to North America is a big factor. So far, not much word about it, I wouldn't be surprised if it never came(but instead the V1j?)

Could you confirm that the F3Jm has DVI out? I could only find pics of the F3J. Will there ever be a 1680x1050 option?

    TIA

If your ordering from North America don't keep your hopes up. I was told from a reseller that the F3J is not going to be released in NA region. I posted awhile back http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=63196 a newsbit I found where the F3J was offically launched in India. V1J is a better bet for the NA region. I would suggest either waiting for the V1J or look into the Z96J.

It is closer to A8Jm, only 15.4" vs 14". It is actually the replacement of A6Jc.

Compare F3Jm with Z96J, it will be nVidia 7600 512M vs X1600 256M; WXGA vs WSXGA+; NO BT vs BT; global warranty vs dealer warranty; ensemble vs BOA.

Does anyone know of an avaliable review of this laptop yet? I'm getting close to making a final decision on a laptop...I was favoring the Asus A6Jc for a while but have switched my top choice to the Compal HEL80/HEL81 since it runs cooler according to reviews. Does anyone have information on how hot the F3Jm runs and what battery life is like? The only thing I don't like from the pics is the line out appears to be in the front of the laptop, good for headphones but not ideal for hooking up to speakers if it's sitting on a desk. For whatever reason I prefer the Asus over the Compal if it compares favorably...they just appear to be better quality machines...but I guess it's hard to say without seeing them side by side.

Questions on the Ensemble F3Jm; how fast is the memory and SATA drive? does it come with the 6 or 9cell battery? no fingerprint reader(as indicated would exist in previous posts)? are there right and left click touchpad buttons, I only see one?

Yes, I'm reviving a nearly 2 month old thread

It seems some UK webstores are listing 'F3JA', 'F3JC' and 'F3JF' with one claiming to be in stock with the 'JA' tomorrow on the 2nd  I expect a more reasonable this month sometime ETA though. The F3JA is listed for £900 which imo is a bargain as the A6JA costs more (I don't care for multimedia features)

Would I be right in saying the F3JA looks to be just a A6JA with business features and minus multimedia buttons etc? I know this question may be a bit dumb seeing as no-one has one yet

I'm killing myself looking for a laptop and if the F3J series does come out in the UK before the US, I may be tempted to take the plunge :p

BoA is a barebone, ensemble is a pre configured ASUS factory unit.

One is warranteed by the reseller, the other by ASUS.

Asus F3JC and F3JA now available in UK

Apart from different HD size and versions of XP config, it seems
    F3JF = integrated graphics, F3JC = go 730,0 F3JA = X1600

Not sure about the top link as all other UK websotes if you search state a 14th-18th Aug delivery date. I think it's between this or the HP Nc8430 for me although if the price for the Asus A6JA drops anymore...
