    Hi people,
I'm thinking of buying a new laptop and I'm looking foward to Asus laptops because of what they provide for the price is very good. My concern is the lifespan since I havent heard much of people who have used them for some years and dont know much about their service. I'm looking especifically at this model K50IN-RBCBR05. My budget would be between 500 and 800. If u guys know any other suggestions theyll be appreciated.

Asus is among the best laptop makers. The K50IN is still en entry-model though so don't expect much (still better than Dell and Acer). It's the most recommended at my school's shop.

I gave my Asus L1400B to my mother nearly 3 years ago when I picked up a new notebook. She is still using it and it must be 7 years old now...

The notebook I got to replace the L1400B is an Asus W7J. It is almost 3 years old now and still going strong.

Both notebooks seem quite sturdy compared to many other notebook brands I have looked at (I deal with many other brands through my work). I am still quite selective though, so always check notebooks out in person before purchasing - no matter which manufacturer.

On the other hand, the build quality (and possibly reliability) of ASUS notebooks has been dropping steadily over the past years as they always aim for better price/performance (and not necessarily quality) ratios. Also I'm not sure but aren't the "K" series laptops the entry-level ASUS models?

If so, due to these two reasons, I would be careful with buying a K-series ASUS if you want a reliable laptop that will last you for more than a couple of years. But on the other hand, your budget may not allow you to go much higher... maybe a refurb/open-box unit?
