The Atom CPU needs to be dual-core and I am all over this. :)

Asus keeps making more expensive models yet the whole idea was to keep these low cost :(

So basically its a slimmed down EEE 1000, with SSD.

The SSD models have been disappointing in my opinion as the grade of SSD they use is actually slower than the HDD models. Maybe this one has the higher performance kind going by the price, but the price may just be for the looks/aesthetics.

Id personally deal with the larger size of the EEE 1000H and toss a 320/500gb 7200rpm drive in there if performance was important and it will probably still toast even the faster SSD's and give you tons more space.

Look - its the MacBook Air of subnotes!

At that price, I'd rather have an N10. Or a used Sony TX series. Or an EEE 1000 with a 1TB external hard drive.

I agree with all of you. Asus needs to stop making more and more variants of their netbook. Instead, improve on the ones they have now and lower the prices. The specs on this netbook are horrible for that price.

And as I say it, a TX comes up for sale on NBR for $650.

Bigger/higher res screen, faster processor, has an optical drive, weighs the same, and costs less. Plus, its a Sony TX.

Sony is the last computer manufacturer anyone should buy from.

Hmm, I've had two VAIO's, and I see no reason not to get a VAIO, especially not one with magnesium/carbon fiber construction that was made in Japan. The TX was really, really high end back in 2006, and its still got superior specs to the S101. Plus, even used with some wear, its probably more durable and better built than the EEE as well.
