So - I just recieved my 1215b yesterday, and did a fresh install of windows 7. it runs great.

i am upgrading to 4 gb of ram today, but i have 2 gb right now

ive only tried a few games so far:
    (2gb)
League of legends - Averages about 22 fps. usually around 30 with occasional dips minimizing at 9 (all low, characters med 1366 x 768)
World of warcraft - averages 34 fps solo questing. in town about 12 (all fair, 1280 x 720)
    Dragon Age: Origins - averages about 18 (all low 1366 x 768)
Super Meat Boy - runs great
Plants VS Zombies - runs great

if anyone is interested in this laptop and want me to test other games (that i already own - check steam account) tell me and ill post my experiance with them

    Hey bro,
any chance you have and can check mass effect 2, KOTOR, and HL2(or any of the source engine games).

    Thanks.

I think counter strike source would run pretty good on this laptop. However games like BFBC2 and cod:mw2/bo might run a tad slow, especially BFBC2.

    Maybe with some tweaking...

If you search 1215b on youtube you will find a lot of videos with people testing games, COD:BO is slow, but the tester did not play with the settings much, BFBC2 looks like it plays just fine.

I am 90% certain the source games should run fine as there are vids of it handling crysis and BFBC2, and I think I saw one running L4D2, which is Source.

I am betting ME1&2 will also be fine, but would like verification.

I should be able to answer some of these questions tomorrow though, I just ordered one with overnight shipping from Amazon, its supposed to be here tomorrow. :)

The list of games I am planning on installing/testing includes:
Mount and Blade(I love this damn game!)
Mass Effect 2(I figure ME1 is a no brainer)
    CS:S
    Dragon Age: Origins
    Medal of Honor(the new one)
    Crysis
    Witcher
    Portal 2

Unfortunately I don't have Black Ops, so I can't test that, nor do I have L4D2, unless someone bought a 4 pack and wants to send me a code :D

really sorry about that, ive been quite busy with school and havent had a chance to do alot with the little guy yet.

    name:.........min:............max:............avg:
    Cod MW2:.....0...............144 .............28 (smooth enough)
    CS:S............21..............67...............37

    MW2: low settings 1366 x 768
CSS: high settings at the same res

I will try to do the HL2 + Kotor today, but i can tell you that ME 1 gets about 15 fps. it does not run well, i have no hopes for ME2

ran another benchmark, native res, all high, got an average of 30 fps, minimum being 15, max being 61. it was slightly too choppy for me, bringing it down to medium did the trick though.

i should note: that was on de_dust with 48 people on the server, constant flashes and many smoke grenades

OK, After DL-ing all night from Steam, I was able to play a few games so far.

    A few details first.
I just got this 1215b, I removed a load of the bloatware asus crap and disabled a load of services that are not needed.

I have a 4 gig stick of ram inbound (thursday) which should speed things up even more.

I am running gameboost and have a 2gig sd card setup on readyboost till the ram arrives.

I don't have any of the FPS apps currently.

CS:S - Runs flawlessly - though I forgot how annoying all the DLs are on a new PC(quake mp3s, etc.).

Mass Effect 2 - runs mostly fine despite specs saying it needs a 2ghz processor. It is a little slow when you have a lot of smoke and a lot of enemies but is quite playable and should be even better once I add the 4 gig of ram into the mix.

I gotta grab some lunch, but when I get back I'll be trying out MOH, Witcher, and Mount and Blade.

Only thing I don't like with the netbook in general so far is the darn home button is next to the backspace so I keep jumping back to the start of a line when trying to backspace.... LOL.

    OK I am back.

A note to add about ME2, I ran it in 800x600 resolution so it was not full screen.

MOH is unfortunately no good. Maybe when I get more ram, but I doubt it. It is skippy and has low frame rates, changing from full screen to 800x600 helped a lot, but still pretty much unplayable.

I stil have to get to Witcher and DA:O but they have to wait.

I did play Mount and Blade and hot damn!!!! It runs like a champ!
That game is the reason I did not get the 1215n!!

Big battle with 100+ characters was running at stinking 80 frames per second(the game has frame rate built in).

Again, I'll be trying Witcher and DA:O shortly, probly install crysis and crysis warhead as well. I am kicking myself for not getting BC2 when it was on sale earlier this month, and I think I may buy Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, but don't want to buy it if it goes on sale(its ubisoft week).

    Any requests?

Not so far. Its definately a bit to get used to it from the old 1005ha I had, but seems to be fine.

My two complaints on built so far aside from the placement of the home button are the right click is VERY stiff. Double or more than the left side of the bar, and the camera shutter dos not click/lock into place, so it can slide around. I would have liked to see it lock.

I just installed FRAPS and CS does not run anywhere near as fast as I thought. I have the settings on default which is 1280 and all textures set to high.

FRAPS put it at an average of 30 with 10-15 when in a big fight with grenades going off, but it all runs smooth enough.

WOW will run on pretty much anything, I don't have it but I have no doubts it'd work on this thing.

I'm gunna toy around with CS a little more....

Wow runs about an average of 40 fps out of town, about 20 in big towns. im not nearly far enough to raid, so i could not inform you about that. i might let my brother try out raiding on this thing though just to see if it works. needless to say, it runs well at native res on fair.

I'm getting pissed off with it now.

friggin 64 bit won't let me install a load of my older programs, even some things that microshat's site says I should be able to install such as office 2003 pro gives me an error, can't even run it in compatability mode.

I finally figured out how to turn off the stupid user control thing that pops up every time you try to install something.

I tried to install XP mode through VMworkstation and while workstation installed fine, the 470mb DL from microshat's website keeps coming back saying it is corrupted. DL-ed it 3 times, same thing each time.

Games work good but now unless I want to drop another $90 or so on a new version of office, I'm stuck with Open Office. New version of Nero is $70, new version of win dvd7 plat is $60. Thanks 64 bit.... well friggin worth it...

I may dump it and load XP on it.....

I guess its all a learning experience.
You are right Josh, Mass Effect 1 is jerky for some reason, but ME2 runs smoother.

MOH is a no go, heck it seemed worse with the additional 4 gig of ram I put in it.

DA:O runs smooth as an androids bottom(yeah.. I just quoted star trek...)

Witcher is not as smooth, but playable, I need to play it more to confirm but it seems OK, I'll try and get some FPS counts.

CS:S does get jerky in maps with 40+ ppl and grenades going off everywhere, still playable, but I stick to maps with around 20 people.

MW2 - is skipy as hell with gamebooster running and works OK without it running. OK enough to play, but just barely.

Crysis will not launch... dunno why... need to play with it a bit more...

Brothers in Arms road to hill 30 and earned in blood, perfectly smooth, have not tried hell yet.

Farcry 2 - runs decent, not great, but again, very playable, even with a huge field on fire and cars blowing up. :p

Or you could use the free office suite at live.com. There's also the free google docs feature which I've heard is not bad at all. They both work right in your browser.

Just use Ashampoo burning studio 6 free edition. Seriously, why pay for programs that you can get for free? That's my philosophy.

It's cool that so many games are somewhat playable on the 1215B, but I'm wondering how well 3DS Max or Photoshop CS5 would run. Can anyone test those out?
