I am considering a new Asus notebook. I live in eastern Canada and currently have a Dell notebook which has been great but is almost 3 yrs old. I am wondering if the phone and web support in Canada is as good as Dell, and should need to send your notebook in for repair to a warranty depot is the turn around time reasonable. Any information would be great.

    Thank You,

    Kobalt

O yeah, the Canadian division of Asus is one of the best. But the only problem might be is that their only office is only in Markham, Ontario. I'm an examples of a customer extremely satisfied with their service :D

Yes, but their standard warranty includes shipping both ways and as far as I know, turnaround times in North America are on the order of less than a week.

Umm... dunno about that. I was always told that shipping was free both ways, but I had to pay return shipping when sending back my V1J battery (<1 yr). But, maybe it was because it wasn't the main unit.

NA ASUS support is relatively good if you call in. Unless you're under a corporate Dell contract, bought as a business or paid to bypass their level 1 tech support, Dell service is rather abysmal. I've dealt with Dell corporate support and it's exactly what corporate support should be (our workplace has a Dell 3yr next business day onsite contract), but I also know people at work who purchased with Dell EPP and had a nightmare of a time trying to get "them" to accept that there was a problem (ie: those outsource/Indian call centers are paid based on how many calls they don't let through).

As far as NB support via email, as long as you convey all the facts and shown you've done all the troubleshooting it generally isn't a problem.

Yup, but I find it better if you go and speak to them personally about your problems, since if you call the Tech support, all their lines are based in the States, and they have no idea about what's going on in the service center in Canada :S
