    Hi all

I recently purchased an Asus x55sv laptop with Blu ray reader/DVD burner combo. I know that Blu ray is enforcing regions -- A, B, C -- and that's not what this post is about...I also have a MacBook Pro with DVD reader/burner. When I first started using it, it gave me about (five? six?) freebies of various regions before the region was set and the DVD firmware region-hardwired.

I haven't used the Blu ray on the laptop yet -- but was wondering if it was a similar situation? I'd heard that you can get around this, but you have to do it before its first use. I have a lot of Australian, US and European DVDs that I want to continue playing, and I also want to be able to play Aus/US Blu ray discs that I purchase in the future.

    Anybody got any info/can help?

No getting around DRM without resorting to methods we won't be discussing on NBR.
