I was wondering if Asus has released a list of their APPP dealers, to see if there's a store I can go to. I'm in Canada BTW (Montreal more precisely) I really want a W3V, but it looks like I'll have to get a student load in order to buy that laptop. I don't know how student loan payments work (yet), but I'd feel much safer buying it from a store that I'd actually walk in to and purchase, and I'd like that extra year on my warranty. [ :D]

    Thanks!

It doesn't look good at all for us Canadians...the only list available lists US retailers only...and everything associated with the APPP list seems to have the caveat of only being valid in the US market.

I'd really like to call in and speak with whoever's in charge/responsible for Canadian ASUS policy, because there's no reason why we shouldn't be included in this promo. Once I find out whom to call...and call them...I'll post the number on here...If lots of us call and complain, I seriously think we can get them to honor it over here too. [8D]

students loan in quebec are without interests as long as you're in school (full time) 6 months after you stop/finish school interests are applied...and it turns into a "student loan" (same as a personal loan) you can pay by monthly....

I know how the student loans work (thanks for the explanation though), but I don't know how using my loan works. Lets say I get a $2000 laptop student loan: would they give me a cash/cheque to bring to a store, that I could possibly use to order a W3V from ProPortable ([8D])? Or would they just give me some sort of credit line that has to be approved by the store that I buy the laptop from?

Yeah, kinda sucks that we can't get an extra year unless we order the laptop from a US retailer. If I can't get an extra year, I'll probably just wait till around sept-oct to get the W3v; maybe the price would go down a bit.

Can someone still link me/post the US APPP retailers? I live about 40 mins from the border, so maybe I could make a quick trip south of the border. [ :p]

I am living in central Carolina and have one child. My husband makes $35,000/year. I have 8 more classes until I get my bachelors. I want to get any student grant for going to school. I have a 3.84 GPA and I am hoping I can qualify for some kind of grant or get some free funding from the government. Can I still get my college tuition and books paid for if I only take one class a semester? Please help me so that I can get the grant. Thank you so much.

Welcome to the forum athenamathew - wow, this is a 3yo thread you managed to dig up ;).

The answer to the question you're asking (about financial aid for higher education) should be directed to the staff at your college financial aid office. It's their job to review your situation and explain your options for financial aid, including Federal grants and guaranteed loans that you may qualify for while attending school.

The point of the thread was obtaining a loan in Canada to be able to purchase a discounted laptop from a retailer. Good luck on completing your bachelor's degree :).
