Ok, my brother has said notebook and he decided to uninstall Vista on it and install XP SP-2. Now, it seems to be much slower somehow but we're not sure if it's the graphics card or the CPUs. As an example, in Vista it could play 720p X264 content fine, where as now in XP it struggles a lot with a ton of lag and dropped frames.

Since one of the reasons he got this laptop was for HD video playback this is a severe issue and he would very much preferably not reinstall Vista for a while (-until it is fixed with some SPs).

Does anyone have any idea as to what could be wrong?

Slower? I've never had that problem with my A8JS, it should feel a hell lot quicker than on Vista.. have you installed the right drivers for its' gpu? as well as other drivers for XP? Did he reformat the harddrive before installation?

Where did you get XP video drivers?
