Seems a few more stores in the UK are doing this, here are the specs:

    14.1'' TFT (WXGA)+ Colourshine
Intel Centrino Core Duo 1.66GHz T2300 Processor
nVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 256MB TurboCache
    Video Camera Built-in(1.3 M Pixel)
    1024MB (512MBx2) DDRII SDRAM
    80GB HDD
    DVD/RW Dual Layer
    Intel 3945ABG Wireless LAN
    Bluetooth Built-in
    Microsoft Windows XP Home
2 Year Collect and Return Warranty
Free Carry Case and Optical Mouse
    Free Delivery

Can't seem to get info on the speed of the hard drive. Price is around £850 - £950 including VAT.

I've been reading the board recently and am very tempted by the A8J models. How does this one above compare? Anyone know how battery life would perform.

Basically it is between this and the Rock Pegasus 330 for me.

    Link to the Rock: http://www.rockdirect.com/notebooks/pegasus330_cons.htm

The benefits of the Asus include: proper international warranty (all be it for only 2 years), webcam, built in bluetooth, dedicated graphics card, free laptop case AND infrared mouse. It is a 14.1 inch widescreen laptop and weight is 1.9 kg btw

Benefit of Rock include: faster processor, slightly smaller screen (not too much of an issue though), 3 year warranty (but not international, although Rock are willing to offer to pay for one way delivery), the instant on and silent mode and supposingly better battery life.

    Thanks for any help.

Well the A8JC will probably get more battery life than the A8JM or AJ8A due to its miserly go7400.

However the battery life might be similar with an 8cell battery instead of the standard 6 cell.

Not really worried about graphics card as I'm not a gamer.

Was told over the phone by one of the retailers estimated battery time would be around 2 - 3.5 hours depending on usage.

Hey Pin could you tell me what is price for Asus A7J in UK (without any tv card) in British Pounds or Euros?

If I know the price for Asus A7J, I can estimate price of A8Jc (because now I know approximately A8Jc price in UK) when it arrives to Finnish market.

Asus A7J cost here in Finland (included Finnish VAT) 1759.00 Euros. (that is about 1205.98 British Pounds, 2219.11 US Dollars, 2455.11 Canadian Dollars)

Asus A7J (specs for normal A7J at least here in Finland)

    17" Glare Type TFT (WXGA+) - Yonah Dual Core T2300 1.66G - ATI MOBILITY"
    RADEON® X1600 256MB - 1024MB DDRII 533 (512*2) - 100GB HDD(5400 rpm) > > SATA HDD - 8X DVD Super-Multi (Slot-in) - WLAN 802.11a/b/g - Win XP > Home - w/Bag&Mouse - Bluetooth - with 1.3M Video camera built-in.
