Its not difficult at all. It is probably the easiest and cheapest way to make a computer faster, depending on applications. Do you know how many slots in the notebook are occupied? If not, then how much RAM is present in the notebook at the moment?

i have a gig of ram at the moment. I think both slots are being used by 512's.

Well, 1 GB is normally more than enough for the majority of Windows tasks, and unless you are gaming alot, then there is little ness to upgrade. You can check your memory usage in task manager. If you want to upgrade then you will have to remove at least one module. If you do game alot, then 2 GB is recommended, and in that case, you will need to purchase two modules of 1 GB density each.

Vista will probably like more than 1 GB of RAM, but I'm not sure, as I haven't tried Vista yet. I do, however, think the maority of people feel that Vista will run better with more than 1 GB.

I would upgrade to 1.5 gb for vista

so you will have an extra 512 mb dim
