when I get my A8Jm this weekend I'll post my temps, but first I'll need to know how it's done. Do you have a temperature utility that runs in the background during games/idle? You must. Could you show us how to keep track of the system temps during use? I only know how to see CPU temperatures through the BIOS and that's not very useful since the CPU is doing nothing!

ok so my idle temps are lower, and under load seem higher, unless nbprobe is giving me wrong info lemme install nhc. Just played counterstrike source, fan went up to 3700rpm with cpu temp at 58 - 63. GPU at 59 on Balanced setting and 62 on High performance setting all on AC with pwr4gear set at Game

Hey guys... maybe I'm doing something different here.. but I was surfing, playing DVD, doing some software installs etc, and the temp in NHC never went over 51 C....

Idle seems to be < 49 C. Are we talking gaming and putting the CPU to the max or something ?

hey, thanks for that, i have been hitting a max of 63 myself recently and was fretting about it being too hot. I dont have pcmark lemme download and run and then ill post my score.

Darrick could you tell me ur hdd temp as well? Mine maxes out at 40 and i believe that is a good temp for the hdd to be at.

    This baby runs coooooooooool :)

yeah.. it's nice and quiet too.... I like :)

HDD, I'll check it and let u know.

I think 63 is ok for CPU, not too hot. I also got the Vantec Lapcool3 when I purchased this notebook, haven't used it yet. Should really test how much lower the temp is if I used it.

For the A8Jm, does the palmrest feel warm after running these tests? In particular, is the left side warmer than the right side and vice versa? I noticed that the W3J's right palmrest is much warmer than the left side under load.

the palm rests remain cool. The left one gets slightly warm due to the hdd, but its not biggie

I just got my w3j and Im wondering if anybody else is noticing the heat and if its normal. The fan always seems to be on even when idling. Will it ever be completely quiet? Is there some issue with Power4gear or something(I have it set on office mode) ? I tried to use speedfan and I think it detected the HDD as 49 degrees and something else as 60 degrees (I'm assuming it was the CPU) For idling I think this might be pretty hot.
    any help is appreciated
    thanks
    Dan

It's a 14" powerpacked gaming laptop. What did you expect, of course it runs hot.. My desktop runs even hotter and it has much more air flow. It's still amazingly designed, one year ago if you told me this laptop would exist, I'd tell you that you're crazy. It's amazing it doesn't burn through the motherboard.
