Can someone look under their registry a tell me what it should be for two values. here the steps to get to it :

Type regedit, and then press ENTER.
    Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
On the File menu, click Load Hive.
Locate C:\windows\system32\config\components (Pick the first one)
Find AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving and PendingXmlIdentifier inside and tell me the type (Binary, qword, etc) and the data.
    Highlight components and unload hive.

I would really apreciate if someone could do this for me. Please don't change anything or do this if you don't know what your doing.

Thanks anyways for trying. I had to delete this to be able to boot. There way a microsoft guide to do it but nothing to set it back. i hope it doesn't cause any problems. I would think it would disable updates but i just installed new updates.

Maybe in the future , if you want to turn some sys function(s) on/off , you can use the "services" option ? It's alot easier to manipulate them than messing with the registry. Also the registry has the "export" option where one can do a b/u of the registry in case it gets fouled up.

A b/u saved my butt once & I never forgot that option. :)

Should have done the export but at that point i thought my computer was really died. There was some advice from microsoft on how to back it up but what i scan though didn't work without booting up first. Also i knew i had backed up the registry only like a month ago but that does not seem to work for those two entries.

Well I hope you get your p/c back up & running again soon.

Live & learn...that's how I picked up re running a computer. May have to learn the hard way but boy you never forget the mistakes & the success's are that much sweeter when you figure them out.

But then they didn't have great forums like NBR when I learned how. The only way you got an answer to a question was doing it & hope for the best. :)
