    Hi guys ,
I found this new series of ASUS N75SF (N75SF-DH71) available in a few stores in US .
    It has a 2'nd gen I7 2670 processor , 8GRAM , 1T of 7200rpm Hard drive , nVidia 555 with 2G of VRAM on it , native full HD display , 17.3'' glossy display and a very good quality sound , Blu-Ray reader and burner , CDRW/DVDRW reader and burner .
The price is between $1300 to $1400 .
You can see here the full specifications from one of the stores that is selling it .
Does anyone owns it or seen any reviews on it ?

    Thanks in advance !

    My first impressions :
    - Very solid notebook . It is not heavy (about 3.5kg) but it is very well built . A real desktop replacement .
    - Display : 17.3 inch , LED Full HD 1920X1080 pixels GLOSSY , absolute faboulous . Very crisp and clear picture . I've considered to purchase a Matt display model but found out that the matt does not shows vivid and natural colors as the glossy one .
I think that the 17.3 inch is a very good option for the ones who consider to work on the native 1920X1080 resolution .
On a 15.6 inch a native resolution of 1920X1080 may be problematic .
    - It has 2X500G 7200 Hard drives . Looks very fast . Both of the hard drives are partitioned in two partitions .
    - The nVidia GT555 with 2G VRAM is performing very well. The user has the option to switch between working with the Intel HD3000 graphics or to work only with the dedicated GT555 graphics card . The picture is very smooth on Full HD mocies . Not tested yet with any 3D games .
    - The keyboard is very big but it is different a little because the arrangement of a few media buttons . It takes some time adapting to it , but generally it is an excellent keyboard . Personally , I would prefer the black color , but the grey one is good too .
    - Sound : The sound is good . It is hard for me to compliment too much on it because if you really want to enjoy superb sound you should consider pluging an external set of speakers . I coonected a 2.1 Altec Lansing system and it sounds better than the built-in speakers , including the little sub that comes with it .

    Problems :
-I'm experiencing very low upload speeds on both using the wireless connection and wired connection . Although the transfer speeds on the internal LAN network that should be arround 7Mb/sec , it reaches only 2-2.5MB/sec wirelessly on a 50MB netwotk . and a very poor 30kb/sec wired ...
It looks to me that something is not set up properly in this area . I've asked for now ASUS's assistance .
If anyone here faced a such problem and knows how to fix it , please let me know .
-Wen I'm extracting a compreesed file using winRAR , I'm getting an error that "Disk 2 not found " at the end of the extract process . I'm not sure where it came from , but I'll try to reinstall the software . Anyway , the extract looks to be done properly .

    I'll continue to update .

The same thing on my Asus N75s when I used wireless upload transfer...I think that Intel 1030 and Asus is very bad combination...
When I used wired connection for upload I do not have a problem...

    Hi ,

As I wrote before the problem with the wired connection was fixed by changing the setting of an internal network adapter parameter .

Regarding to the wireless connection , I'll try the same today and report on the results if it will be fixed but generally I'm happy with the wired connection that I'm using most of the time .

I reported this problem to ASUS and I am not if it is related or not , but a day after my report , I saw that their official dealers are offering the same N75S model with an additional free ASUS Synchronization cable that has the ability of transferring files from the ASUS notebook to any additional notebook or network device , with very fast delivery speeds .

You can see a such model supplied with the Asus Sync cable here : ASUS N75SF-DH71 17.3" Notebook Computer (Black) N75SF-DH71

I got ASUS international support to ask from my local ASUS dealer to obtain from them this cable ( didn't got it yet because it looks like it is the first time they are hearing about the existence of this cable ) .

The keyboard is not load . It is a little different by having some media buttons on the left side .
I haven't faced any num pad problems I see that some guys complied about on other forums and generally it is a very good keyboard with large flat grey buttons . Maybe some users won't like the space between the buttons ( I don't like it ) and the fact that you should be very careful to keep it clean .
In fact , I'm looking for a keyboard skin for this model and I'm not sure that a such product exists , in order to keep the keyboard clean without caring too much .
So if anyone of you know if a such keyboard skin is available , please let me know where it is possible to buy it .

According to Sandra's report on my notebook , this model has just a 65M wireless connection and not a 100M as I supposed it has .
It explains the slow speeds that I face using it which are 40% lower than I thought I'll get .
The question is why ASUS does not mention it in any place on its technical details ? Because it is considered "Media Notebook" it is not supposed to have a standard wireless network speed ?

    Did you solve this issue?
    What did ASUS tell you?

I'm from Spain, and considering to buy this one, but here it doesn't come with 1920X1080 pixels, as I saw in one shop ...is the model N75SF-V2G-TY115V instead
    Still happy with it?

    Thanks in advance
