I have had th W3V for awhile now and thougth I would drop in to ask if there were any updates to solving the old volume problems or if it is a hopeless cause.

If you recall the volume was horrendous prohibiting high volume sound from being produced.

well when I was using windows XP, I used the Realtek Audio (the blue icon in the system tray) , opened it and put all of the sliders on the equalizer to max and press the On button and it made the volume as loud as can be... most times loud enough for me but obviously the sound quality dropped and i wasn't sure if doing that was good for the speakers...

right now i'm using windows vista and the realtek vista audio program does NOT have an equalizer to do this.... I'm sure there are other programs out there that will make the volume louder; but I guess i've been too lazy so far...

    hope that helps

The volume/speakers on the W3V is/are bad but I would not say horrendous. I would suggest using the SPDIF to output to external speakers, like the Logitech Z-5500 (worth every penny). This is what I do and quality is a non-issue. You can probably find digital headphones for the road too.
