I have been having this problem for the last 2 weeks where after turning off my laptop for a few hours and turning it back on again it would go to a resolution of 1366x768 to 1024x768. It does this after I have played any game on steam (Mainly TF2) My laptop is the G50vt-X5. Is there anyway to fix this small problem?

Weird. I'm sure everyone will jump on this fix but here it is first: Did you try updating your video drivers?

Yep its updated and everything. Also sometimes when I play TF2 it keeps on jumping from the valve load screen back to my desktop (No idea why) Also one day after playing Penumbra it want all the way down to 800x600. It does this also at the login screen.

I think I had this issue after a crash running Crysis Warhead. Forgot how i fixed it an infact the initial fix didnt get it. Probably tried something to the effect of setting the res, rebooting into safemode and then rebooting, sort of things i do whenever I have issues lol.

The game itself should be returning the previous res on its exit routines so if a particular game always does it you know what the issue is. I may add this to the windows fixes tab of my app something for returning to a res after D3D is stopped.
