I've been given a broken M6Ne Asus notebook, same model as mine. The problem this notebook has, is a failured Video Card, so i will keep this as "spare parts source" for mine, which is still working fine. I've also been given the notebook HDD, but I can't remember:

is there a way to use the optical drive slot with an hard disk drive in order to use two HDD simultaneously ?

    Thanks. :)

On notebooks like my G50 and a few others as I have been told, the machine will not boot without an optical drive on that port. Weird weird design.

Pull out the optical and see if it will boot.

Well, disconnecting the Optical drive, the system boots regularly... so i would be able to use an additional HDD.

I searched the original Notebook package and found a plastic slot case suited for additional HD placing... the problem is that to use an HDD an adapter connector (should be a 40pin Female ATA to Female notebook plug no idea what's named...)) is needed, but at the moment i can't find it anywhere...

    15$ for an ebay caddy

likely much cheaper that just the adapter you are looking for.

Probably the Ebay solution is the best... Actually the adapter i'm looking for should cost less than 2$, but if i cant' find it...
