I don't know what he is talking about.I don't think you need to get rid of anything but the [annoying and useless] Norton AntiVirus.

Well the ASUS comes with a bunch of ASUS programs/bloatware installed. There was a post somewhere that described all the files ASUS adds what each does and wether it was useful or not.

Yes I do remember that thread, I went through most of the applications and stated whether they were usefull or useless to users or how they may be important for some users.

Basicaly here's what you will want to remove right away, Norton and Asus Live Update.

Then you will want to consider the following.
    Net4Switch
    Power4Phone
    MultiFrame
    Splendid

These are jsut off the top of my head, some of these applications you will want to keep depending on what you plan on using. I personally have kept Splendid and Multiframe, and I am debating to keep Splendid. It is a nice program but I always have my laptop on Normal mode.

If you have any other applications you want to inquire, please post here.

ATKOSD2 could be the hotkeys, thought I have ATK0100
The power4gearextreme would have to be related to the the different cpu and power settings.

OSD2 is for the graphical animations and notifications you get when you press the hotkeys.

ATK0100 is a driver needed for you to be able to use the hotkeys and OSD2.. and maybe power4gear also

Do not remove ATKOSD2. You might remove power4gear; that's controlling the CPU frequency and other things such as screen brightness according to a set of profiles. You might want to keep it in the first place see if you can use it. Later one you can remove it if you don't need it, the Windows will take care of the frequency of the CPU (although I've read about some problems with Vista and some laptops which would mean you do need power4gear or an equivalent program).

That's correct EBE, psxsage you will want to keep the ATKOSD2, and as for P4GExtreme, this is your choice to keep or not provided you have another program to replace it with.

For example you can use NHC or RMClock to deal with power modes and other OS settings. RMClock can undervolt the CPU, which can decrease temps and may slightly increase battery life.

Just in case you may not know, P4GExtreme has performance profiles like Battery Saving mode, High Performance, DVD and etc. These performance profiles can be adjusted to your own liking. Or you can use another program like NHC or RMClock and thus you can just stop P4GExtreme from booting on startup.

Have Anybody used the webcam function in Instant Messenger (YM) in an Asus (V2Je for specific)?
Sadly only after a few secs I got a BSOD.
If I don't want to use Lifeframe 2 for webcam, which one is a better program to use?
