Hi, I have the UX32VD and trying to update to the latest driver and BIOS. Every time I go into my tray and click show icons and notifications I get this messge.

"This notification icon is not currently active it will be shown the next time it becomes active". How do I activate it? I know there are updates on ASUS website and would like to update my laptop.

Did you read the guide i linked to, get a flash drive that is formatted in FAT32, pop it in the laptop, put the bios file on it, restart, go into the bios and use the EZFlash utility. The whole procedure is listen in the bios update guide i linked in my earlier post. The bios file itself is not an executable.

I overlooked the link your provided. I have already installed my new ram will updating the BIOS be a problem? Since laptop is not in default. I have never updated a BIOS so I am kinda nervous. I don't even know how to get my USB formatted to FAT32 never done before.

It is actually fairly straight foward.

Start by inserting your USB stick into a USB port. Once it is recognized, click on your start orb and click on computer. Once your drive list shows up, right-click on the USB drive and select "Format..." Be sure the file system is et to FAT32 (default) in drop down menu and if it is not, select it. Run a Quick format and click the Start button at the bottom. Once it has completed formatting, it should be all set.

After that, unzip your BIOS onto the flash drive and be sure to note the path to get to the flash.bat file. You can check your file path by first navigating to the folder containing the flash.bat file then, in the bar above it should show the file pat in simple form (Computer > Patriot (K :) > File > Flash) for example. In that top simple path, click on the open space on the right of all of that and it should show the format as (K:\File\Flash) this will be the file path you will need to remember when you flash your BIOS and you will enter it just like that in the command prompt when you boot from the flash drive.

Another thing, make sure the laptop is plugged in, that the battery is also in the laptop and that it has a decent amount of charge when you flash. This will avoid any unpleasant experiences if you experience a power failure when flashing to a new bios. Having changed the RAM will have no impact on the bios flash.

Updating a bios always makes me nervous, but i've never had a problem doing it on any of my laptops or desktops for that matter. It is also possible that you have the latest bios, you can check what bios you version you have from the bios and you'll know. Note that there is always the remote possibility of a bios update going bad, but it's very rare if you do it properly and You can have Asus fix it if it ever happens.
