    For the ASUS experienced,

Why the heck do they still put a legacy port on their laptops? DisplayPort too new still?

Any word on SB based laptops being uptodate? The N53s look decent, but I don't know if that GT550 is gonna show up in US models. Sure would hope so along with a displayport over the old garbage VGA port.

Why can't they offer something freakin DELL does on XPS? Maybe the XPS might be a better option unless people note really sucky experiences with those.

VGA is not legacy. It's still the premier analog video port. Monitors that are only a few years old do not have HDMI or Displayport connectors, however, almost everything has VGA.

VGA is pretty much the only thing guaranteed to be compatible with the projectors at work.

The B53 has displayport, others might as well.

VGA is still pretty standard, it's not just ASUS...

I agree with this. When I go to conferences, give presentations, or have to connect to a projector for anything the standard connection is VGA. Even if it's a legacy format at this point I have yet to encounter HDMI on any systems that were installed more than a year ago.

Yep. I needed VGA for connecting to classroom and conference center systems. DVI is more common now, but I can't rely on having it everywhere I go.

Just to clear some confusion, VGA is technically considered a legacy port; but due to so many devices in homes/offices that are still using VGA AND the fact that it's cheap, there's no reason to eliminate them in the near future.
