    ASUS Z70VA

after inserting headphones into the SPDIF/phone output, built-in speakers are not disabled, sound is produced from both - speakers and headphones.... It's really useless.
Why is that? Please help me someone.

What headphones are you using and what sound drivers and version do you have installed? It sounds like the headphone jack isn't disabling the switch that's in the jack..... The jack might be defective, budt it's always good to make sure before we jump to conclusions...

... the main thing is - it's NOT supposed to do that - obviously.

The thing is, that everything else with the sound is alright... I used more different headphones and other jack cables (connected stereo cd system).

Just the music is playing in both (built-in speakers and phone out) at the same time.

I have REALTEK High Definition Audio drivers installed:

    Audio driver version: 5.10.00.5123
    Audio controller: HD AUDIO
    Audio codec: ALC861-VS

    Windows XP Pro SP2
    DirectX 9.0c

    Thanks if you could help...

I would say everything looks good and what you've tried is what I'd expect someone to look at..... Someone else who uses this everyday may be able to quickly tell you if that's the most up to date - functional driver... but I'd have to look at that tomorrow. I'd give your dealer a call and have them test it out.

I really appreciate your help. My laptop was purchased in US but I live in England so I can't contact the original retailer...

I hoped this could be just software problem or some switch/ contact inside to be repaired myself :) ....

Sirotnik, this problem has been popping up here and there. The news is not good. It seems it is a hardware problem and not drivers or software. It seems the audio dj has to be pulled and replaced with a newer model. From what I've read for the most part, the laptop should be sent to Asus or your retailer to be fixed. Here's a link talking about the same problem that your are experiencing. http://www.geared2play.com//phpbb/nfphpbb/viewtopic.php?t=457

This is a problem I've seen posted on these forums a few times and as Justin has said in the past, it seems to be a hardware problem, not driver related.

Just now as I was reading this thread I was wondering if mine was doing that, I wasn't too sure because I just had my system reaseembled, so I was thinking OH CRAP, I've been playing music loudly in this coffee shop the whole time~!!!!

Hahahaha, but luckily mine is working just fine :D

Contact your reseller and have them do something about it.

    Cheers,
    Mike

If you go to Realtek's website they have updated drivers for your soundcard.

Just go to the HD Audio drivers and just download the one for windows xp.

    The file's name is WDM_R130.exe

    Updates drivers to 5.10.00.5211.
