Hi all. I'm new to the forum here.

For Christmas I purchased an ASUS X551M laptop for my daughter. She didn't have much time to use it over the holidays and then went to stay with her mom. Anyways, she came back and told me that her keyboard wasn't working. I took a look at it and found that all the keys have about a 4-5 second delay before input. You literally have to hold each key for around 5 seconds before it responds.

I have tried plugging in a USB keyboard and that exhibits the same behavior.

The only software that has been added is iTunes.

Oh, the keyboard functions normally at the login screen. Once the user account is logged in the keyboard starts the delay behavior.

Has anyone encountered this and if so, is there a fix?

    Thanks in advance,
    Travis

Never mind. I figured it out. Apparently there are separate and additional settings in Windows 8.1 (the tiled desktop) for ignoring a short or long keyboard press. Stumbled on that setting by pure accident.

    Thanks
