My ASUS is only 6 months old. Top of the line F8V series. My RAM crapped out, 4GB DDR2 @800mhz (2x2GB RAM sticks) One of the sticks causes my computer to crash.

I pull the bad stick of RAM out and its runs fine like a knife through butter. When I put it back in it crashes it after about 1-2 mins after booting up.

My questions is....I am still under the 2 year warranty with a year and a half to go. Am I able to just send the bad stick to ASUS and get it switched or would I have to send the whole computer with the bad stick of ram inside.

My computer runs fine like new since I switched out the ram with 2 new 2GB sticks. I dont want to have to send the whole thing just to get the ram switched out. Is it possible without sending the computer and just sending the bad stick? Since im still under warranty I would like the ram changed.

    Thanks in advance.

Might PM GenTechPC he usually knows the procedure on warrnaty problems. BUT calling ASUS would get you an answer anyhow so uh call them.

Should be able to get them to exchange the stick sending it in but you wont know if you dont ask.

If you tell them you can swap the RAM yourself then yes, you can just send the the defective RAM back to them without sending the whole laptop.
