    Hi all,

The HDD on my ASUS UL50VT laptop died, and I never created recovery DVDs. There was a recovery partition on the HDD, but it's gone with the HDD. Could anyone please help me find an .iso of the recovery disk(s) for this model? I don't really feel like paying $50US for the media ordered from ASUS.

    Thanks.

.iso recovery files can be difficult to locate. You can try torrents or major file hosting websites, but with those always comes the potential for a virus. Asus support may be able to provide you with recovery media, though they may charge for it.

If you can't find the recovery media online, try giving Asus technical support a call and ask them about it. Maybe they can help you.

    Thanks, Prostar Computer,
I know that .iso recovery files are difficult to find. I just thought maybe one of the guys here has the same laptop, so he could create a set of disks (there is an option) and upload the images to some fileshare for me.
I checked ASUS Support store, they charge $50US (some $70CAD) for the recovery disks, at least for other models. IMHO, a bit too pricy as for an old device.

If $$$ is an issue then go ahead and download a Windows 7 .iso and then install the drivers from the ASUS website this way you save time and money. ;)

    TheZoltan,
It is not as easy with this particular model. It has a hybrid video and some other features that require lots of tweaking. The videodriver alone is really hard to figure out. Even the one available on Asus Support won't work out of the box. That is why I prefer the native system image.

Really? That's odd. I agree that the $50 - $70 is a little steep for recovery media. Good luck sourcing the image online! You can try said sources, just be aware of how precarious they can be (potential malware).
