I just sold my black macbook, which I used for work, and ready for something smaller. I thought I'de give a netbook a go, something that do with some light gaming duty on the go.

Does anyone here have one? any thoughts? I've done the google thing, 'just want to hear from actual people who have and use the N10.

I already have a dedicated laptop for gaming. This is mainly for work, and some time wasters here and there while on the road.

I have a friend who bought an N10Jc for exactly the same thing (playing games to pass time during idle periods at work, whilst travelling, and when he can't be bothered using his desktop PC).

in a nutshell - don't expect to run any major blockbusters released within the last couple of years, and load times can be a bit grating even on older titles. Also be prepared to do a bit of tweaking to run games in native 1024x600 resolution (although 800x600 letterboxed is a fine alternative). He installed Demigod the other night just to see if it was possible to play, but it was too choppy to be any fun, plus the game didn't like being forced into the native screen res.

with that said, we've managed to have a few good LAN games of Unreal Tournament (the original), Age of Mythology, HOMM5, Warcraft III/DOTA, Diablo II, and a couple of racing titles... him on the N10Jc and me on my N81Vp :)

and it should go without saying: get rid of Vista straightaway if you happen to buy an N10 with it pre-installed!

I'll ask when I see him next, and see if there are any other insights I can glean for you.

Pretty much the same opinion: will play World of Warcraft (Win 7) at 15-19 FPS with most everything set to low in open areas in Old World, but can drop to 6-9 FPS in cities and group combat. Good enough for a little soloing or checking mail or AH, in other words, but forget it for Northrend or raids, etc.
