    Hi.

    I have here one ASUS K50IJ Rev. 2.1 board HannStar J MV-4 E 89382
The problem is that it doesn't power on, I believe that there is something short onboard.

I've seen plenty of sites talking about problems like this in this notebook series, but haven't seen anywhere anyone talking about the problem resolution.

I've seen somewhere someone talking about an SMD component near the power inlet on the board marked as "B4", that they tell is a diode, to be burn, and I believe that was true and replaced it but the problem persists.

There something that tells me something is short because when I connect the power supply I get a little spark on the connector that is not normal.

At this moment I removed the main chipset to see if it was the short cause, the the spark persists.

Any ideas about the component that is shorted?

    Best Regards.

    Hi.

Is that possible that so many people has come across this problem and no one now the problem source?

    Best Regards.

Have you tested the DC jack for continuity and/or replaced it?
